Prophesying over Circumstances

`Hello Friends !
I’ve been asking the Lord what He wants me to write about next and I can’t get this prophetic vision out of my mind. So I’m going to share with you what God has laid on my heart.

Ezekiel 37 Plain

If you have never read Ezekiel 37:1-10, you can do so by clicking the link. 🙂

“Now keep in mind that when an army was defeated in battle in Bible times, the victorious soldiers would often strip the valuables from the slain and then leave their enemies’ bodies unburied. In remote places where there had been serious battles, skeletons sometimes remained for years afterward, until the beasts of carrion completely scattered the bones or they surrendered to the elements. This image of a valley covered with bones was not merely an abstract concept. Ezekiel lived at a time when one could find literal valleys of bones-places where the slain enemy had been overwhelmed and there was no one to bury them. In the Bible, a corpse not properly buried was considered to be accursed by God.” (Amazingfacts.org)

Watch this brief clip.  Trust me. It will give you goose bumps. It brings to life the words of the passage.

I love that God used Ezekiel to prophesy to bones.
The bones were dry and brittle, empty shells of what used to be. Life had not been in them for years. But God did not see that.  God saw an army. They still had a destiny to achieve and a promise yet to be fulfilled in their life.

God asks: Can they live?
Are we looking with our natural eyes or our spiritual eyes?
What do we see when we look around and inspect our life and surroundings?
I’ve been noticing lately that usually when God asks a question, the answer is in the question.
Has God asked you something recently? Every time God asks me a question, I know I am in store for a great surprise as long as I believe and trust He is good and always has good things in store for me and my family.

PROPHESY- Ask the Lord what to speak over your life, family and situations.
In verses 5-6, twice God says “I will put breath in you and you shall live.”
Ezekiel prophesied as he was directed. He spoke word for word what God had directed him to speak, but in vs 8 “… there was no breath in them”.

Last summer, I was praying over my dad who was in desperate need of a heart transplant. Without going into details, the doctors didn’t think he could even get one. I asked God what He had to say about it and He gave me a short phrase to speak over my Dad. Whenever the enemy whispered death I would say, “NO, HE WILL LIVE AND NOT DIE!” The more I prayed over my Dad and prayed scripture over him, the easier it was to recognize the lies and whispers of deception from the enemy. The enemy wanted me to focus on death. It really became laughable. As I focused on Jesus and what God had to say about the situation, the whispers of the devil were more and more obvious. So I say all that to say, ask God what He says about your situation. He always has something to say. He’s looking to manifest Himself as the answer.

Do not get Discouraged
I feel like it’s important to note that God spoke two times that breath would enter them, yet when Ezekiel prophesied as he was commanded (vs 7), breath was not in them.  I imagine that Ezekiel was confused and probably didn’t get it.  He did what God asked him to do, yet they still weren’t living.
How many times have we followed through with what God has asked us to do and then at the end were confused or frustrated because we didn’t see the result we expected?

God isn’t concerned that breath didn’t enter immediately. When we know we did what God has required of us, and we haven’t seen change or results, or maybe we’ve seen something, but nothing overly significant as we had hoped…Go back to God and ask for more! Hold Him to His word! He will surely do all He says He will do. His promises are ALWAYS, YES AND AMEN! (2 Corinthians 1:20)
Do as Ezekiel did; go back for more and prophesy again. He went back and got a more detailed and specific word from the Lord about breath. It’s okay and right to keep going back.

What happened with my Dad? For over a month I woke up every morning with bad news and every day seemed more worse than the day before. But I had a promise from God so I kept looking with spiritual eyes. God said “He will live and not die” and I took that to the bank. It wasn’t for me to figure out how God was going to sustain my Dads life, just that He said He was going to and I could take it to the bank and cash that in. He is not a man that He should lie; no, He is far more trustworthy, (Numbers 23:19).

The Bones still have a purpose and a destiny!

This one particular night I felt such a spirit of faith in our little apartment. It was drawing us to come and pray for my dad. I was laughing most of the time we were praying as I was so full of joy and confidence before God. As John and I prayed over my Dad the presence of God filled our bedroom like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. We went to bed and woke up in the morning to a message from my mom (there is about a 15 hour difference between Australia and my home town), to hurry up and call her. I quickly called her as she excitedly explained within the last 10 hours my Dads levels had completely turned around and stabalized. The doctors went from no hope for my dad to rushing tests so he could be added to the heart transplant list. This journey was about six weeks.
I understand that not all answers from God are so quick, but this time it was. This journey taught me that there is such a difference between just speaking scripture at a circumstance AND… being full of Faith and asking in confidence. It brought me up to another place and I believe that God has no favorites and what He will do for one, He will do for another.

So here I’m asking you…
What Army are you looking at in your life?
What “hopeless” situation are you facing?
See with spiritual eyes, hear with spiritual ears and speak the promises of God back to Him!

Proverbs 10:11
The words of the godly are a life-giving fountain…

Proverbs 18:21
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Romans 12:12
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

James 5:16
The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

I hope this encourages you to get alone with your Maker, Creator, Lover and Friend. He is so in love with you and desperately wants to manifest Himself as the answer. Will you let Him?

  1. Loved the song at the end! Needed to hear the testimony about prophesying over situations. My life currently is in a pit, I have a difficult time with scripture and matching up to situations. Thanks for sharing! I actually stumbled on your writing on the beach first, and after reading it, searched for more!
